Gift Cards

Gift cards are now available for one-with-one coaching and one-day writing retreats.

These are a wonderful way to invest in life-learning, self-work, and community-care.

Consider purchasing a gift card for a loved one.

Would you like to support a loved one with their writing? or career discernment? or commitment-driven living?

Coaching and writing retreats provide support for prioritizing current projects, for forming new habits and patterns, and for getting unstuck around any number of issues.

Coaching can be many things, but at its best, it highlights what’s possible—possible in writing, relations, and life. Coaching involves channeling curiosity and commitment into meaningful conversation and into the transformations that flow from that conversation. It can answer questions, while bringing others to light. And it can be tailored for any sort of project, at any stage of learning or writing. Learn more about coaching here.

Writing retreats allow us to invest in ourselves, in our work, and in our commitments. Through writing retreats, we hold creative space for incubating, developing, and completing writing projects. We dedicate time to write, to reflect, and to consider our needs as writers. This life-giving writing environment involves writing alongside and connecting with other engaged and supportive writers. Learn more about writing retreats here.

Or ask a loved one to gift you a coaching session or writing retreat.

If you’ve previously participated in coaching or joined a writing retreat, you know how much these experiences can enrich our lives. Gift cards can be an excellent option when others ask what gift you’d like. Keep these in mind, and ask others to support you in this way.

Who are these gift cards ideal for?

  • Anyone clarifying and striving to act on commitments to justice
  • Anyone who wants to prioritize writing or move projects forward
  • Writers, educators, editors, and other people who work with words
  • Researchers seeking to make sense of and communicate understandings about the world
  • Healers, caregivers, and community organizers seeking to recharge and recommit
  • Academics engaged in career discernment, experiencing burnout, or longing to make change
  • Anyone making shifts and changes in life—toward aligning with commitments
  • Anyone called to contemplative writing with the desire to bring greater intentionality into everyday life
  • Anyone struggling with difficult conversations or how to speak up
  • Anyone feeling stuck, experiencing writer’s block, or generally wanting to shift habits and patterns
  • Anyone who feels a “strong yes” to participate in coaching or writing retreats

What is the cost?

$85: Gift card for a one-day writing retreat.

$175: Gift card for a 1-hour one-with-one coaching session.

My commitment to striving toward justice includes working to make offerings widely accessible, being creative with money, and recognizing that a range of approaches is needed. These gift cards are offered at the full-price rate for individuals whose careers are financially sustaining. If the cost is prohibitive for any reason—no need to explain—please reach out, and let’s talk about a sliding-scale price for you.

How will gift cards be delivered?

This work is deeply relational, so Beth will coordinate with the purchaser and the recipient, emailing everyone involved.

When you check out through this registration page, please add a note about who is receiving the gift and, if possible, share their email address.

Reach out with any questions.

Why work with Beth?

Beth Godbee, Ph.D. is a public educator and writer with deep commitments to justice—social, racial, and environmental justice.

Beth brings years of experience as a writer and writing teacher (previously tenured professor in composition, rhetoric, and literacy studies). Beth has worked in K-12 schools, writing centers, community literacy programs, teaching and learning centers, and writing across the curriculum programs. This work has involved mentoring writers, researchers, educators, organizers, and healers—in and out of higher education, through one-with-one and small-group conversations.

Since 2018, Beth has been offering coaching, courses, writing groups and retreats, and other community-building offerings through Heart-Head-Hands: Everyday Living for Justice. If you’re interested in learning more, please read about the commitments that guide this work, review Beth’s publications, and check out recent blog posts.

What do others say?

“Heart-Head-Hands is integral to my personal growth and to living my commitments. I’ve turned here for many things, including writing groups, (re)commitment hours, and coaching. No matter the offering, I so appreciate the thoughtfulness and the research that Beth puts into each one. I especially love the resources she shares, as they allow me to learn and to explore many of my questions.” —Chloe in California

“Beth offers a refreshing approach to understanding the challenges of academic careers and identifies both problems and solutions with impressive accuracy. She is transparent, trustworthy, intuitive, generous, and focused when working through tough questions that can often feel daunting to navigate.” —Briana Mohan, Career Adviser and Chair of the 2019 Graduate Career Consortium Conference

“As with any space Beth helps create, writing retreats center our humanity and ground us to recognize a variety of activities (i.e. reading, journaling, going for a walk) as important contributors to our writing goals and care for ourselves as writers.” —Rachel Bloom-Pojar, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

“Beth not only listens deeply but also reflects back the questions you didn’t even realize that you were asking, offering them out for future discernment.” —Jen in Wisconsin

“Beth’s work with Heart-Head-Hands has completely transformed my relationship to writing. I met Beth at the point where I was experiencing paralyzing writer’s block. Beth’s guidance, support, and caring helped ease my way back into writing. I’ve begun to love writing again. In writing retreats and weekly writing groups, Beth has provided me with a community within which I can speak candidly about my struggles without having to worry. The spaces that she creates are healing spaces that offer the added benefit of productivity. Through working with Beth and the rest of the community she has cultivated, I have not only become more comfortable writing, but improved my writing as well. I am eternally grateful!” —Kylie in New York

“I regularly attend the writing retreats and writing group facilitated by Dr. Beth Godbee and Heart-Head-Hands. I joyfully and gratefully confirm it has blessed my writing life beyond measure and given me a loving, supportive community in which to do my work. It would indeed be a great gift for the writer in your life.” —Eric Darnell Pritchard, Brown Chair in English Literacy

"Welcome spring!

It's time to reawaken.
To stretch with longer days.
To regenerate after the stagnation of winter.
To plant seeds and intentions and to tend to those we're planting.
To experience renewal with wonder, play, curiosity, and laughter.
To revive our senses and grow with the growing light.
To bloom. To blossom. To become.
To compost. To create. To cultivate."
